Boudhanath Stupa is one of the most important Buddhist sites in Nepal, where thousands of pilgrims, besides being one of the most important tourist attractions of Kathmandu Valley. It is located about 10 kilometres from Kathmandu, in the town of Boudha. Boudhanath Buddhist stupa dominates the skyline, and is one of the largest in the world, and certainly the largest in Nepal. In 1979, Boudhanath Stupa is part of a building Heritage Site by UNESCO, along with Swayambhunath is one of the most popular tourist sites in the Kathmandu area. Boudhanath has been built on an ancient trade route to Tibet, a place where ancient traders stopped to pray. This place has always been very venerated by lamas from Nepal, Tibetan and Hindu Nepalis.
